At a school-mates birthday party on Sunday, we were invited to a gymnasium for some good ol' fashion romping around. It was fun seeing all the tykes jump on the trampoline, jump into the foam pit, climb the bouldering wall, and run over an obstacle course on the "blue mat." But more fun was when some of the race games started - things like crab walk, three-legged, and wheel barrow. Mason, however, didn't seem to get the gist of handicapping oneself for the purpose of racing and proceeded to yell to himself "ready, set, go" and proceeded to run across the mat while everyone else followed directions.
This tells me two things: 1) he's going to be a runner - hopefully doing a few races with his mom in a few years...maybe even the Bolder Boulder 10K at some point; and 2) he marches to the beat of his own drum. We knew this already, of course, but it was blatantly apparent that he had no interest whatsoever in playing games. He was out for blood.
